stihl es bar tip replacement
« on: April 25, 2014, 03:36:44 pm »
I was milling with my 084 and accidentally clamped the alaskan down on the part of the bar tip where the sprocket runs, now the bearing is shot but I don't know the first thing about replacing the tip. Anybody out there got some tips for me (other than don't be an idiot and clamp your sprocket)?

I knock the rivets out with a punch. I place the bar on the anvil and punch the rivet down through one of the small holes.

I place the new tip on the bar with a new rivet and peen the rivet down flat.

I usually drill them out also and then punch out the remains.

I have a short piece of rail that I use for an anvil.
