029 Super
« on: August 05, 2013, 08:22:50 pm »
Traded my poulan 2250 for this on even trade. This runs but leaks gas around fuel line on tank.

Is there something broke cause the engine cover wont stay down all the way on the recoil side of the saw.

Looks to me like something isn't lined up right more than broken. When you say leaks gas do you mean needs a fuel line or ****?

I think its the fuel line. It was soaked in gas when I shut it off. Plus it was leak down the side on the outside of the tank. PO said it would bogg down and shut off. I dumped his rotten gas and put 50:1 tru fuel and had no troubles keeping it running til the gas leak.

Gotcha. Looks to me like the top cover just has an alignment issue.

Looks like the top cover is part of the lower trigger handle.

It is. I have one apart right now so I snapped a pic for ya. The rear handle is molded together with the top cover.

I have a 029 super and it is a good saw that just works.  It kept my family warm for about five years and I bought it second hand.  I have done nothing to it other than add fuel and oil.  Still starts when asked to and will make chips with a sharp chain.  It won't set any speed records but it will cut just about anything you ask of it.   Until this last year when the firewood was all bigger stuff, i never realized it was anything but adequate.   30" made me see the light that the 029 super was slow....  but it still performed the job asked of it.

I hope you get it running and it serves you as well as mine has me.

Not sure what it could be. Spark plug wire maybe. AV mount out of wack. Hard to tell without having it here in front of me.

I was thinking a mounting bushing when I first saw it. Maybe I can fix by loosening up a bunch screws without removing alot of parts.
