ms170
« on: September 19, 2013, 02:33:19 pm »
I picked up a 170 with a scored piston.  Strangely it seems to run OK but I don't want to ruin it by running any more. I have purchased a Golf piston and am going to put that in.  Can I clean up the cylinder with acid on this model?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Lee

All the cylinders that are either chrome plated or Nicasil plated can be cleaned with Muriatic acid.

Thanks for the feedback, I did know that in general.  I guess my question should have been is the cylinder on this model chromed?

You will be fine to use acid to clean it up on that model and most of all the ms models for that matter. You can also try a scotchbrite pad or some lite grit sandpaper as well.
