036 Pro
« on: May 07, 2014, 06:15:02 pm »
Just got my 036 Pro. ;D Has a good air filter but I want a few spares for days in the woods. Have any of you tried these Hutzl filters? They have some fuel and oil caps reasonable to. Any of you tried those? If not these, is there a better aftermarket source for air filters?

Thanks everyone.

I have OEM stihl 044 fuel cap if the same as 036. Have a stihl 440 flippy cap too.

Thanks for the link Kevin. That air filter they sell looks identical to the Hutzl and Hutzl does sell wholesale as well. I may order one of each and see if they're the same part. $5 cheaper from Hong Kong and free shipping. $20 to $25 cheaper than OEM. I want to support my dealer but that's to much difference.

Still looking for anyone who's used the Hutzl air filters?

$20+ here, that's why I'm asking about aftermarket? Anyone used Hutzl?

If you order the Hutzl filters let me know what you think of them.   I have a couple of 036's myself.

I probably will. They're only $7 or $8 and free shipping. I'll give them a shot. Meanwhile, I think I'll go to a fabric store to try to match up the flock we use. Once one is worn out, I don't think it would be to hard to apply adhesive to the plastic only and put the new flocking on. Although instrumental to the durability of our saws, it's not rocket science either.

We subject our off road rc cars and trucks to tremendous amounts of dirt and dust on the track and you'd be surprised how much experimenting has taken place at one time or another. The neatest I've seen is those colored "Ace" type bandages that wrap and stick to themselves. Many racers use them as a 1st stage filter to catch the big stuff. This bandage is somewhat tacky to the touch and yet it doesn't collect excess debris like you would suspect. It's pretty open so it doesn't restrict airflow. Something to try in dirty cutting on a Stihl 441 type filter? Maybe so. It's cheap, and takes seconds to cut, wrap and press.
