down removing flyweel clutch oil pump and jug. any advice or cautions are welcome. saw set in field for years after tornado blew barn away.had ant nest in muffler cylinder seems good.  should I get a puller  or just knock off flywheel way I do on other saws. it is my first non clamshell stihl.

May need to "make" some special tools to split the case. You don't want to just start prying and beating.

Beating on the ends of the crank is my method.  Proceed from hard plastic to brass to steel depending on results.

The bearings are usually a light press fit in the crank and they will stay in the case.

Don't be thumping on it with a BFH .Heat the bearing pocket up on one side with a heat gun then just tap loose the bearing still attached to the crankshaft .Do likewise on the other side .If you are bound determined to thump it use a dead blow or wooden mallet ,no BFH now .

FWIW a flywheel puller doesn't cost that much---E-bay .

thanks all much clearer and easy to understand than sthil service manual. amazing thing about this saw is after being blown away in tornado and sitting outside in a goat pasture 5 years looks like with new pull start and carb it would of ran.
