Jeremy,
Could you get an actual photo of the front mount tensioner screw on the saw? I can't see the screw's head by the dog spikes, from looking at the bar pad plate in the lower pic it does appear to have a hole between the stud holes for the tensioner. The sprocket cover could be from a 038 or something.

Here is the oldest 034 crankcase I have seen.  Bought 034 036 dust cover etc for it and nothing fit.
Cale works for a stihl dealer told me it was a early one that was different.

Kevin pull off the clutch , and you'll probably see a flimsy black rubber oil line going from the oil pump to the bar pad. My very first 034 had problems with this hose blowing off on one end. Then they upgraded the line.

I will take some better pics tonight. The inner bar plate you see in that picture is from one of my 1128 series saws.
There actually is no inner or outer bar plate for this model.
I assure you the clutch/bar cover is from an 034.

Look at Kevins picture above, & then look at this one. Paying close attention to the area between the bar studs.
Even if I wanted to, I couldn't put a side tensioner on my saw.
Better pics will follow ASAP
