i pulled it last night, can't find a dam thing wrong. even pulled the hose and filter, blew it out easy, nuthin but oil.
is it possible the wire is spinning on the worm gear? i would think there would be scaring on the gear? there is not.
how can i check the vent?

Stihl says to blow air threw the vent into the tank. It should not build any pressure. You check to see if there is any build up of pressure by depressing the small ball in the end of the vent with a small pick.

Do you hear air coming out? Most of them will release a small amount when you depress the ball. I think the spring behind the ball holds some oil and that is why a small amounts comes out. Those valves are pretty cheap only problem is most dealers don't stock them. Also try and release the ball slow and listen real close.
If you just press it down quick you may not hear the air as the oil can get around easily if pressed all the way down quick. Hope this makes sense.
