That sounds like a classic example of leaky crankcase seals .They seem to do just fine until they warm up and start leaking .

So, just to be clear, you're saying once warmed up it'll idle & rev unloaded just fine and the problem only shows up when cutting?

Correct.

@SDB777  did you figure this one out?

Unfortunately, not so much....

Would this 'leaky crankcase' also explain the carbon build-up on top of the piston?

Why did you replace the rings?  Why no new piston?

Wasn't trying to be hostile, just curious.

Was the old piston like new?  Any scoring?  Worn and shiny? Why did you replace the coil?

Does it have a Bing carb?  If so, did you replace the kit?  All of these questions are asked with a purpose.....
I don't suggest you replace anything without knowing what the problem is.

Have you done a leakdown test?

How can you expect anyone to help you with your problem without sufficient info?

Sounds like you are spending your own money good enough!!

You say that you replaced the coil?  Because of your running problem?  What coil was on it?
What coil did you put on it?  Did it run any better?  Did it run any different at all?

He wouldn't have replaced it anyway, so it doesn't really matter, I guess.
