Holman. How did you make the studs work? The pattern on the 084 is wider?

Here is the specs on  Tillotson Ht 5 and up   http://www.tillotson.ie/docs/HTPartsList.pdf
I used HT-1 when possible on 084's   there is 2 and 3 also but I cant find the specs for 1-3 right now.

I did this mod in 1988, just took a look at it and see I just made a adapter plate from a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate with studs mounted in it. Mounted in this order: plate, tank housing, carb. I used the 084 intake ring, had to drill out the tank housing hole for the expanded intake elbow to accept the bigger ring. I'm sure I used the stock 064 intake elbow but might have used a 084.
Alot of water has passed under the bridge in 23 years. ;D

Did you notice any gains with the 084 carb?

I milled 25thou off the cylinder base, 80 thou [2mm] off the intake skirt, 4 deep finger ports alongside the transfers, gutted muffler, indexed spark plug.
The powerhead needed the 084 carb to feed it.
If I did it again I would install the adapter plate between the tank housing and carb. That way no one could see the mod thru the gap of the top covers. Countersunk cap bolts bolting the adapter to the tank housing with nuts on the cylinder side of the tank housing through the original stud holes. But maybe there was a reason I put the adapter plate on the cylinder side of the tank housing, maybe the larger hole in the housing took out those stud holes. Plus the hole in the plate would need a recession around its perimiter milled to accept the lip of the rubber intake manifold.
I'd have to take the carb off to see what I did.
Hours and hours of tinkering I did back then :o

That's great. Definitely have to think outside the box on that conversion.  8)
