090AV Restoration
« on: February 21, 2018, 08:02:09 pm »
Just sold my 090 last weekend while down to the winter festival running my chainsaw  competitions.
The guy handed me $1500 Cad in $100 bills and he won't see the saw for at least another month.
I'm going through it on all the exterior pieces.
Never had the cylinder off and that's the way I'll keep it.
Clean her up nice, put a new carb kit in it, recover the top handle.
Got new OEM fuel lines, throttle cable, new top covers, rewind housing, kill switch and some other goodies.
This saw is a late 1994 model I bought new in 1995. Probably one of the last sold in North America.
She's a good ole girl.
Here's a pic.

I'm having fun with this project and laying off the beer helps too  ;D
Got more old saws to go over so paying the shop's electrical bill doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Does anyone have any Stihl 23mm(1") handle hose #0000 791 2005 ?
I can get it for about $80 but I don't need 17 feet of the stuff. My handle only takes a 15 9/16" piece. 20" long would be perfect so I can blow it on with my air compressor.
Also need a new style 090AV hand guard part # 1106 792 9100. Only found a new one in Germany....

Looking more like a 090AV today. Brand new OEM  covers and some other goodies.
All she needs now is a new top handle hose and a hand guard.
About 20 years ago I ordered that OEM handle hose from my Stihl dealer. When it came in it was 17 feet of it for $69.
I told my dealer to send it back but he ended up selling it to someone else.
Sure wish I bought it now.

Just fired her up, first time in over 5 years and she purrs like a mountain lion.
Still has the original 24 year old carb diaphrams.  Either they made good stuff back in the day or I'm doing something right.
I hooked up the governor so the new owner doesnt blow her up or something.
Sounds weird with the governor , will have to put her in some wood tomorrow.

This is my second 090AV I bought from new.
This one in 1995 (memory is fading) I paid without taxes around $1300
The one I bought in 1983 I remember $900 w/taxes.

Just sold my 2006 OE 372XP an hour ago.
Only Huskies I got left now is a 562XP 338XPT and T536 LiXP.
Could have got alot more for my old classics selling down in the States but being locally sold I'll get lots of repeat business with bars chain tuneups sharpening.

Well it was a sad day today,  tried stalling to hold onto the 090 for one more day.
But got her all packed with 3 bars and 5 .404 chains from 17", 36" and 60".
She's  now heading down the highway in the back of an 18 wheeler.
Here's 2 pics.....
