Brad blsnelling says they respond to muffler mod and carb retune.  Then to go a little further with a  flywheel advanced timing.

He has the gains with each mod listed in the video.

Thanks for the info. Brad is right on with what he did to it. I did along the same lines as he did. Great throttle response. And more power for sure.

That's the same thing we do to them as well. I've also increased compression a bit on the 201.......nice runners afterward

Did you gain much from raising the compression. Did you pull the gasket or mill it down.

I cut enough from the squish to just flatten it and then set the squish by turning the base in a lathe. The owner says it beats their 200T.

What do you mean by flatten it. Sorry for my ignorance

No worries. The squish band in most saw engines has a lip where the cylinder wall plating overlaps the squish area. We just remove that and clean up the squish band which in effect flattens it. Compression jumps 30psi or so.

Thanks, I got what you are saying. I do not have a lathe, do you think running a thinner gasket would make much of a difference.

Don't ever make any assumptions when it comes to squish clearance. Be sure to check the clearance with solder and adjust as needed.
