Didnt Cliff and sons go through some solo 681 cranks.  I think I remember that too.

The husky 365's 372's I was rebuilding  had bad big end bearings. Were run 50:1.  Husky even had  something out to go to 40:1 min.

I run 40:1 in all my saws and have been happy . But have seen more crank bearing issues with guys running 50:1. I think there is not enough oil in 50 for how fast they turn stock. And most guys run a lean carb setting because they don't know what a properly tuned sounds like.

EHP reports bearing failures in the woods @ 50:1 too.  32 for me all the time every time.  Preach 32:1 to all my customers but they don't listen.  Oil is cheap ins. policy.

I would give that cylinder a go.   Compression does not start building until you get above the exhaust port.

Just call it a finger port, what the heck.
