Used to be someone out in the PNW that used to do the polish cases covers etc.  Used to sell saws on ebay too.  I cant remember his combos done but I think they are pretty slick looking.

Nice WTG.

Enjoy polishing it as the shine does not last long

What if you clear coat it? Maybe shine will stay, but might peel etc later from nicks etc from being used.

Cut. Going to just use a brass wire wheel over the whole case then clear it. Even wire wheeled they still shine very nice. Think that way I will have the best results with the clear. Plus the clear I am going to use is a high gloss type.

With 2 coats of clear. Never polished it any more. Just used a brass wire wheel to clean it up and cleared it. I think it looks real sharp. Going to work on doing the crank bearings. Just maybe one day I will figure out the lighting so I can post some better pics.
