I do know that the red and yellow wires have to be connected or the saw will quit. I played as far as I am going with out owning the saw the saws I tried them on are a good buddies of mine. I was talking with Nate the other day and he has some 362/261 m Tronic saw he said he was going to play with. I think you are on to something with leaving the solenoid plugged in. Guess I need to go buy an m Tronic saw to play with.

I think some how the solenoid will need to be tricked to think there is fuel going by or it will limit the rpm in the ignition module. All air and no fuel would to me mean it would think of a lean run condition and limit the rpm to prevent over revving. But maybe it is not that smart.

Sometimes I wonder if stihl does this stuff just to see how someone can figure out how to run without it.

Except that you would have the carb tuned, so the solenoid would cycle looking for RPM, establishing the feedback loop for the timing to get advanced ............... in theory, maybe

Maybe someone that has had an M Tronic carb apart could post some pics of the internals. I would like to see what is going on in there. For guys that have change out the solenoid for running problem issues, how did the saw act with a bad solenoid?
