I had a nice Mac 250 with a wide front bow in the early 70's. Nice chainsaw but a little large for my needs at the time. I wish I had the same chainsaw today.

Sharpen the chain as you would normally? I guess you don't want to take the rakers down to far. I like my chains a little grabbie.

Grabby and bows don't mix.

Some 411. I don't know if the bow you purchased will come with a chain. Setting up a bow on a saw normally takes some fitting. A typical saw will need the chain catcher removed, and the spikes no longer serve a purpose. The chain length is critical. To short and the bow won't mount, or will be so close to the sprocket that the tie straps will pound on the bar heel. To far away from the sprocket and the chain will be lifted off of the rails. Make sure the oiler is wide open. You can run any pitch chain in a bow, but the gauge has to be correct.

Good luck!

It is a new bow that comes with operators manual. Hopefully it has all the info I need on chain driver count. Thanks for your help I will post some pics when I get it mounted up.
