Brand new 1992 026, what service to put in use?
« on: September 09, 2012, 09:58:26 pm »
In 1992 this saw was run at the dealer for a few min, then ran out of fuel and put in the case until I got it this week. It never touched wood.

Is there any chance I can get by with out replacing the diaphragms and or needle. I would at least like to try it before working on it.

It cranks over normally and was kept inside so seems rings and cylinder are fine. Any tips?

Also is there a muffler mod I can make to free up flow with out making too much noise

Thanks.

Me I would visually inspect hoses and lines for cracks. Then if ok fuel up and try and start.

Sounds like a great find wbear!!
I picked up a VG used one this summer.  Have only put a few tanks through it but really enjoying it so far.  Wish I had picked up yours!!!
I'm not an expert, but I agree with Cut4fun2.  ck it out visually, stick some now gas/oil in it & give it a try before you tear it down.  At worst you waste a little fuel.
For muffler mods, look at this post.

You probabley don't need to do anything except put gas in it and start it .In '92 there wasn't much if any ethanol in the gasoline and it was only  ran a short while .
