It's about 7 above but I did take a peek at the saw .It says 034 AV but I measured the bore through the muffler and it's a super,48 mm .It has the muffler with 4 bolts like shown in the book for the 036. In fact the rear part has a shroud exactly like the 036 which is not shown on the IPL of the 034.Then again all that might be where it was made and when it was made as to what parts it might have

Probably either one would work .If it's too long use spacers on the bottom bolts .Too short either stack gaskets or use spacer #022 145 1200.That number was penciled in and might not be correct .My IPL book was used by a dealer and has notes every so often .I'm guessing at one time they might have a had a similar thing happen trying to match mufflers and left the note .

I found one in storage looks close  only number readable on plate is last 6. If has screw on top cover like 034 is it likely a 036.  Had it a while now never identified it.

I called Stihl and was told my saw was made in Germany and is a 1983. The AV stands for anti vibration but they soon dropped that because they all came with that feature. Anyway I ordered one off ebay that was for the 034 and 036. I also ordered that spacer because there is about a 1/4 inch difference between these two mufflers. I got it to fit but had to file out one of the bolt holes about an 1/8 of an inch. So far it looks good. I also ordered a replacement fuel filter and air filter and even though they were supposed to be for the 034. The don't fit mine. Oh well that just gives me something else to do in my spare time. Thanks for the help.

I had the same thing on an 034 I had which I used an 036 cyllnder .The air filter I ordered came from a west coast supplier I no longer patronize .Of course it didn't fit, typical .The one I bought from a local dealer did though plus it was cheaper .
