Chinese Copy of a Stihl 660
« on: April 03, 2015, 06:22:26 pm »
I have a set of 660 cases, like I had with a 372 once. Going to wrap all AM parts around it and see if its as successful a build as my Huztl 372. I plan to "tweak" it some. Any idea what kind of timing numbers work for those 660 class saws??

Exhaust is high like 95 or 170 on most stock cylinders. Those really benefit from cutting the chamber and base.

Good to know.... I I try and match a good set of numbers for a 390, would that work? Try for Exhaust 100 degrees ATDC, Blow down at 20 degrees or there abouts... maybe 22degrees Transfers at 120-122 ATDC, and Exhaust at 80 BTDC?

That's fine if those are parts that fit together as its a complete saw. But what about using those parts to bring a Stihl back from the dead? How close to the original parts are they? I'm more interested in a way to salvage "crush" or skidder damaged saws as that is something I see. Not certain of the market for a compete copy. And if it is a complete saw, its a Farmertec, not a Stihl.

IS that saw in the Pictures your saw?

As mentioned in the post

Definitive Dave - a member here owns (ed) the saw

There's a discussion about it somewhere around here?

I rebuilt this one using a Hutzl long engine assy and a big bore kit everything swapped straight over plus it got a dual port muffler

I am a idiot so my pics disappeared.

And everything fit? And it runs well enough where you aren't disappointed?

DD's saw above is all parts you can buy to repair your own 660 saws with. He just built a aftermarket 660 from all the parts available.

Your not buying a complete saw you are just buying parts.   To build a complete saw from parts was 450.  Using your own saw minus the parts not needed and way less cost for build.
