Chainsaw Repair

Here is my Stihl 026 PRO. The picture is by cut4fun.

It carries a Stihl 16" bar and Stihl 3/8" X .050" RSC chain with a 7 pin rim.

It will really turn up the RPM. A very likable light weight compact limbing chainsaw.

It is wood's ported with a pop up piston supposedly by Dan Henry and a muffler mod. The carburetor is a twin needle Walbro WT-194 with a regular metering valve cover. The extra hole in the air filter is stuffed with a foam ear plug.

All the parts match the type 4 in the IPL except for the carburetor.

I was able to work on the cover a little with some fine sand paper and rubbing compound to remove some of the sun fade.

I suppose I should take some new pictures on a sunny day?

The Walbro 194 doesn't have the compensator type metering valve vent like the later 026 carburetors did.

I chose to not run the compensator and I plugged the extra hole in the air filter with a foam ear plug like is described in the other thread in the forum..

But if your old carburetor was the compensator type and you would like to run it, just use the metering valve compensator cover from your old Walbro on your new WT-194.

The compensator merely takes its pressure reference signal from inside the air filter. Supposedly it helps to keep your mixture balanced as your air filter becomes more plugged. But some people do not like it.
