Does Stihl Still Make A Dual Port Muffler Cover for a MS460?
« on: March 27, 2016, 08:07:33 pm »
I am holding off on the MS390 deal until later this month. I am buying a 044 from a member on this forum. I am looking for a good part number for a dual port muffler number for stihl that is still good. If they still have them.

Thanks
Jason

There's little noticeable difference except price between OEM and the Aftermarket mufflers from HLS

The HLS mufflers are the same brand as those from Sawagain made in Taiwan

You can get just the dual port covers for all these saws for just  $19.95

044/MS440, 046/MS460 $29.95 Dual Port Muffler

066/MS660 $34.99  Dual Port muffler

You go inside the muffler and remove the dog house and open the outlets up as much as you can and away it goes - full power

Paint isn't that important. The stock ones won't hold up much longer. The oem one I bought had the bolt fall out on the screen first time I used it. Was way more pissed about a $40 cover doing that.

It's not a big deal to gut a muffler and cut another hole in the cover.Maybe half an hour with a mini die grinder .If you want paint try the stuff they spray barbeque grills with .

If you want a shroud on one  just cut one out of sheet metal and  braze it on .If you can't braze use stainless steel pop rivets like they connect flue pipe with.If they can stand up to the heat of a wood stove going full tilt that saw won't even faze them .
