Found another dislike with the 261, all be it a small one. They kept the mini spline drum setup of the 260.

Oiler trouble again. New pump and line coming. 5 tanks of gas to 1 of oil. Funny thing is chain does not bind.

When this pump issue gets resolved the 261 will be getting a 3/8 chain. This saw should have no trouble pulling it. Think I will go with a 15 inch bar.

This saw has a great filter system. 3rd week and have not washed the filter yet, just blow it out every night, more habit than need. 260 needed to be washed every day.

Why can't every saw be built like a this Stihl?

You will have a hard time finding a standard 3/8 rim in a mini 7 spline bore. But I do have a brand new Stihl 3/8 Picco 8T rim with a mini bore. You wouldn't be able to run a standard 3/8 on it but it would be interesting to see how the 261 would do with a Picco chain with a 15" bar.
Interesting thing about this 8T Picco rim sprocket is its bigger in diameter then a standard 3/8 -8T rim, also bigger then a 9T .325 which is bigger then a 3/8 stand 8T.
I have no clue why Stihl developed this large rim for a mini spline application. But would be interesting to try out on the 261 with the little 3/8 Picco chain and that much chain speed.

I ran the 8 pin picco on a 260. Stock it like a 7 tooth picco setup.

Ran regular 3/8 chain on the picco rim with no problem, and picco chain on standard rims.

Getting small spline 3/8 has been no problem in the past. I have 5 or 6 on hand.

The 260 that TW built liked an 8 tooth sprocket.

Are you having troubles getting 7 or 8 3/8 stihl mini like on 026?  7's I find easy down here.

Sounds like Holmen is. No trouble on the East Coast.
