Got tired of waiting for the adjustment screwdriver from the dealer. Took the limiter tab off the 261, put a slot in the jet for a regular screwdriver. Plug was grey to white at full rich (14,400). Set now at 13,800. Nice torque increase.

Got to put a 254 Husky together, think the 261 is stronger.

What does this NEW EPA screwdriver look like? Double D , Pacman, splined, single D or is it something new?

No idea yet. Dealer tried all he had and then checked on the Stihl tech site. New part # for it. He ordered some for his shop and mine. Trouble is that they are on back order.

When he pulled the metal cap he messed up the head of my needle, just a round hole left. Have a new needle, tab and cap on order.

it would fit right in against all those other "stock" saws that I race against and I still  come in fifth place  ;D ;D
Still on the fence,  autopsy on my 5100 don't look good for a cheap rebuild, Eds still trying to find parts, he's optimistic, I'm not..

The question would be, do I get the second 261 he's ever done, or stick with a NE 346 which he's had over 30 on the OR table, besides he's still not completely convinced  the 261 is really that much faster when all is said and done.
He needs to have them side by side which he doesn't.
My bar and chain fit a Husky or I could rework some bars (PITA)or maybe get another 5100 which has an outboard clutch..which I like

Unless a miracle happens I'll be 3 cu -less at the race.

What happened to the 5100 ? That 261 Art posted the vid on looks real torquey. Why not get the 261 & run it stock ? for a while  :P

Had 3 Dolmar 5100s, 2 stock and 1 EHP. Yes they are strong torque wise but the 261 has its power at higher revs. As for racing a 5100, been there, coil kills it. In 8x8 BIL's 346 would beat it. In 10x10 I could give it a race.

May be selling the 5105 this fall. Would love to be selling 261's.

Steve in Arts part of Nova Scotia, a stock 260 beats a stock 346. Only place in the world that I know of that that happens ;D
I believe air pressure is part of the culprit.
If i purchase this saw it will take a while to ship it to me, its all about price points. ;D
I hate stock saws but may break it in.
If I go 261, I'd have to find a 58 gauge bar..  Do they make them? or am I cutting husky mount bars PITA

5100 had a piece break off at the wrist pin, and get sucked up the transfers into the jug and made the piston stop :o I couldn't even get the piston to move and thought its a ring BDC but apparently the crank case was so full of metal it wouldn't allow anything to move.
Maybe 500 tanks.. at the utmost, my favorite saw in a log pile

Your statement is not totally correct Jeff. Back a few years ago when Ed did the 260 Arctic for me he ran a 346,5100, 5000 and my 260 all stock. The 260 was quickest in Haliburton also. Go figure that one out.  :o

In the wood pile, balancing on moving logs, cutting left handed and upside down, torque is the name of the game for me.
My 5100, I believe, had a different coil, and would get beat by only the better 346OE. I do it no justice at the races.

I've never even had a 261 in my hands and they are not even for sale yet in my area.
