Stihl 261

My new 261 has the hottest handles of any Arctic I have owned. Better than any of my G model Huskys also. Uncomfortable in spruce with bare hands. Hot even in hardwood. Not a bad saw either.

So how do they compare stock to the other stock 3 cubes you have ran?  In the cuts etc.

I think I remember you saying something about the air up your way being different and had a effect on different saws powers compared to us here.

It is strong for sure. Once it gets a few days on it I will be better able to comment regarding other saws. Here the 026/260 liked rpms. Set to factory specs they were not great. Here they liked 14,800-15,000.

OK scare me. What does a MS261 cost up your way? The price down here is ridiculous already IMHO.

I have no idea. They are not available here until May. Stihl dealer called me and said "come get your saw".

This is a quote of retail online from the John Deere stihl dealership down the road from me. Now I have 4 stihl dealers within 40 mins of me LOL. The 2 furthest are great. The JD one I have never tried, then next closest is  ::).  I wont go there.

$550 with 16" before taxes.

Won't be that cheap here.

This saw could stand better oil pump. Got it set to the max and it uses 1 tank of oil to 2.5 tanks of gas. I see that Stihl has not figured out how to make chain yet either.

That filter setup is the best I have seen in 30 years of playing with saws.

Best Stihl topcover yet.
Feels lighter than 260 when using it.
Loves revs.
Great on gas.
Good av.
Easy to reach cyl fins.
No primer bulb.

Dislikes.

Not enough oil out put.
Captive bar nuts.
Bar mounting, would prefer K095 bar.
