Just curious, why dont you like the captive bar nuts? Seems like something people would like.

I could see if one messed up it would be a pain to replace in cover it looks like.

246 looks slim, hows it feel compared to the OE 346? I know I like the feel of the OE compared to the NE 346. Something seems to have changed on them from OE to NE besides 5cc

The nut portion is too small. You only have about 1/8 inch for your wrench to fit on.

There is no comparison between a 346 OE and 246. 234/238/242/246 are the best handling Husky ever. Guys here paid $800 for 242s when the 254 or 266 were only $600.

Guys buy 242/246 and say they have no power. True, they are not cookie cutters or firewood saws. Use them for what they were designed for and nothing yet can match them. For 1-2 inch limbs at 16,000 rpm they are hard to beat in a 9 hour day.

I was running 254s when I got my first 242. Cut 2-3 cords of pulp more per day with the 242.

Well I have some more time on the 261. Is it the strongest 50cc out there? No, not where I live.

Some people miss the fact that no saw works the same at all geographic locations world wide. What is the strongest, fastest, quickest, etc in Ohio may not be in NS. That EHP 5000 Kevin has was built for here, and it works great here. It is still good at Kevins but not like it would run here.

What do I prefer in a 50cc saw? All the rpm I can get. The 261 fits that nicely.

If your style is dog it in and push, a 5100 Dolmar would be a better choice here. With light pressure and rpms the 261 would be quicker than a 5100 in a cut here. Am I happy with the 261? You bet. 242 on steroids.  ;D

Found out the price today. $625. More than happy with that. $75 cheaper than a non heated 346.
