Got 20 tanks on it now so I put the tach on it. Stock muffler, H  is rich as the stop will allow. L is 1/2 turn richer than spec. RPM = 14,440.  Staying right there.

WOW!!!
the second good review of this new Stihl I have seen. Kudos to Stihl, finally figured out they were last and better do something quick.
This is in Nova Scotia and Stihl has always been quicker than Husky, I would like to see a logger in central NA really have a go with this saw comparing to a NE 346 or 5100.
Have you not put some holes in that stock muffler yet?

And your right Art, all this hype of Stihl RS,RSC etc I'm not sure what they are cutting, but isn't in my backyard for twice the money.
I'm a 73 LG LGX guy.
I've tried it all..it just works and files easily

Hi Jeff. No holes yet and don't plan on any. This thing is staying 100 percent stock till it fries or dies. Will play with it the second time around.

great to see a review from a guy that actually uses his saws.
Ill be watching,
Has anyone to date besides Brad ported one of these. Is that saw being used daily,I'm interested in the longevity aspect before I start recommending these to the local tree guys?

They better jump and dance because there's a whole pile of documented well running 3 cube saws from Ontario to Florida and all points in between.

I find only 1 real fault with this saw, the limited amount of oil it pumps. Cutting arm size hardwood today. Mostly knock it down and cut off at 16', no limbing. 3 1/2 tanks of gas to one of oil. Does not seem right, but chain never binds or gets tight.

The nut portion is too small. You only have about 1/8 inch for your wrench to fit on.

Fits with what I suspected    ::)

To go with above. I do understand now about the 1/8" part.

Got the oiler problem fixed. Took it back to the dealer. They pulled the pump which was ok. Next they pulled the tank line. Some genius was working on that design. Line goes in the tank about an inch, then takes a 90 degree turn straight up 2 inches. The oil pickup is sits at the top of the tank. ???

Cut the line at the eblow and put a pick on it. Oil pickup now is at the bottom of the tank.

I wonder if that was a one only mistake and it is suppose to be pointed down instead or are all of them being assembled like that.

They don't have any to compare with. They won't get the rest until May.

Stihl tech said the flange on the line when sitting properly into the tank cutout can only point the line up.

He said the line is very soft and looks like it was designed to bend over dropping back down into the tank. Only trouble is it is so soft, it close off the line doing so.
