Hot Rod MS180???
« on: January 30, 2014, 01:48:32 pm »
Anyone have any clue as to what this guy has done to get a 180 to perform like in his video? Doesn't seem real to me. Sounds like one mean small saw though. I have a 170 I've put an adjustable carb on,but nothing like this guy's saw.

I've seen ported 170-180. They cut for what they are. Another big gain is using PS PS3 chain for another 15%-20% faster cut.

I remember Brad had ported his little stihl 180 about 5-6 years ago.  Didnt have the nice PS chisel chain back then. Semi chisel in video.

Unreal performance from both. Much better than anything I get from mine.

That guy does nothing more than change sprockets(higher tooth count) and put a longer bar on the saw(over barring).........actually under powering the saw.
The guy is a joke.

Read the negative feedback on this guy and make sure to pay attention to his responses. The guy is a total azzwhole.

Judging by the negative replies, I wouldn't buy from him either, but none of the complaints were about his saws performance. Seems he also sells parts like rope and sprockets, along with being a slow shipper. It seems to me from his videos he must be doing a bit more than putting a long bar and higher tooth sprocket on his saws. His saws don't seem to be bogging, or losing many rpm's, in the cut of some pretty big wood for a MS170/180 class saw. Brad's saw video looked on par with that guys' and his was reportedly ported and mm'd. I know my 170 bogs terribly in 14" wood with the supplied bar and sprocket. Can't imagine how poorly it would do with a longer bar and higher tooth sprocket without extensive mods. Could be mistaken, but I can't see how simply changing a sprocket and replacing the bar with a longer one would help performance, especially in the cut.

Quoted right from his description.... "PILTZ Modified saws achieve high performance through (bar, chain, clutch/sprocket) mods only"

Here's another quote from this fool.... "We are NOT a full service saw shop, we are a specialty high performance parts and supply ONLY.

We do not supply most parts and we offer no repair services, all our saws and products should be considered race only and used at your own risk. "
