M- Tronic
« on: February 15, 2016, 10:08:26 pm »
Has anyone messed around with grounding the two carb wires and running a regular carb on an m Tronic saw. I am playing with a 362 made a jumper wire and plugged it into the two wires and it still makes spark. Guess the next thing to do is to put a regular carb on and see how it runs.

Not sure how much the m Tronic unit controls timing advance.

Was thinking of doing the same on a 241. Have fun.

The choke rod and the switch shaft needs to be changed to get the choke to work properly and to be able to turn the saw off. Left it alone for now as I can manually set the choke and part throttle. Will let you all know how it works or doesn't work.

The coil of the m-tronic is the brain.
It controlls timing and fuel solenoid operations

I was thinking of installing a resistor between both wires instead of a jumper .................. looking forward to your results

weird how husky and stihl went opposite directions with the brains of the system.

With the jump wire and regular carb it will start and idle. Once you pull the trigger it gains a little rpm but not much and that is all you get. Maybe  Mopars idea of a resistor may work. Was hoping the the m Tronic unit did not have so much to do with timing. Not sure where the timing is now. Also had the idea of advancing the flywheel by cutting a 1/3 of the key. Any other thoughts you all have are more then welcome.

Huskys auto tune seems like a simpler design and not so over engineered like the m tronic

The other option is to remove the solenoid from the carb, plug in the solenoid to the connector and leave it hanging somewhere inside the carb mount area
