MS 170 oiler
« on: December 07, 2013, 12:37:55 pm »
Hello fellow chain saw fixers

I am working on  an MS 170 .. does it have automatic oiler ?  it appears so.. Is there any adjustment ?  it appears to be delivering too much oil to chain.. that being said it is inside at 70F ( 21 C) and it will be used outside which today is - 24 ( - 31 C )

any help would be appreciated.. thx

It has a non-adjustable automatic oiler. If it's that cold out I like to keep the saws inside the house or the truck to keep them warm until ready for use. If the saw is used right away the oil will stay thin. The heat from the engine running will keep the oil warm enough while it's running.
