MS 241CM test
« on: January 23, 2015, 08:24:54 pm »
Had a 241 in the shop today. Saw was used in softwood only. Had to clean the flywheel before the diagnostic tool would work. Ran the test and had some interesting results. Saw had 706 hours on it. Best part, saw would hit 16,000 rpm. That is as high as tester will read. Seems it was a bit past 16,000 as graph was not a sharp spike but had a flat peak before coming down. By the end of the test the max rpm was down to mid 14's. Interesting to watch the test being done.

Forgot to bring the printout home, will scan it Monday. Each test gives a 5 or 6 page report.

Did the build up on the flywheel cause the over rev?

No, it would not start the test before the flywheel was cleaned. Got the scanner fixed, should get the test graph up tomorrow.

By the end of the test cycle it was back down to 14,000.  Seems to be governed by the program, not just rpm.

Yes, it's more like a 50cc than 42cc. It's stronger than my ported 246's were. Beats a stock 5000 partner here too.

Stock no muffler mods right?   What chain you end up running .325 or Picco?  RS?
