does anyone have the measurements for setting the oiler depth on an ms170?

Never been into one of these MS170 saws. Are you asking do they have adjustable oiler or how to adjust oiler?

their oiler just pushes into a hole but it has to be in just the right amount to far no oil to little no oil and it has to be oriented the correct way apparently stihl makes a special tool to install these but from what i heard its cheaper to have a shop do it than to buy the tool if they'll sell it to you.

Let me check the service manual if I have it.

Hopefully someone else knows before I get done reading.

I just looked at the 017 service manual. I dont see anything hard or needing special tools. 017 was saw before MS170.

I'm going to send you the service manual to your email listed here. You take a look at the step by step instructions.

thanks for the manual the tool they have there for pulling and installing limits how far in the pump goes the discharge hole for the pump is abou an 1/8" diameter and has to line up with the same size hole in the case if you miss that at all you get little to no oil on your bar.i may have to try and buy that tool

there are three parts to it the assembly tool #1123 890 2200 the puller #1130 893 1400 and the installer #1130 893 1500
