Thanks guys.
Things are a little strange with the saw & original story.  Got it home & it actually feels like it has pretty fair compression.  Haven't stuck a guage on it.  Saw looks nice.  I assumed it was straight gassed but no idea really.  pulled the muffler & plug & what I can see doesn't look bad.  Little irregularity in top edge of piston right at exhaust port.  Never messed with clamshell saws before so I'm not sure how far I'll go on it.  Need to stick comp guage on it & go from there.
Turned out to be 18" b&c but in good shape.
Should be able to part it out & get my money back I would think...
