361

so, i just rebuilt a 361, impulse had a hole in it and the piston was very lightly scored. installed a new meteor and new lines.
it pulls a 20 well in seasoned white oak, even though to me it feels about as heavy as an 044.
it is sold to a buddy and i will have to warranty it. tuned fat as is my nature, it still seems on the lean side to me at wot unloaded. i did not bother the limiter and it is backed out as far as the limiter will allow.
the muffler is stock. so is it just me not used to how these tiny muffler saws sound or would y'all pull the limiter and tune fatter until it blubbers?

i sure do like the old carbs on bigger saws lol.
Mike

Pull the cap and trim the tab off.

Those saws also respond real well to muffler mods.

they surely would.......i just don't feel like taking it apart and likely welding it back. don't look like a way to open the hole on this one any other way.
i think i will pull that limiter though.

No need to take apart on these. They will flow better with just a side deflector added and dime size hole on left side. Heck might try the louver style and then no deflector needed.
Mine just had 3 holes drilled in front bottom when traded to me and it was a different saw compared to stock muffler.

Remove those red caps and readjust IMO especially after the muffler mod.

There is some stihl 361 muffler mod shown in this thread. Baffles inside still.

2lbs.........prolly about the difference between the 044 and 064. maybe i just expected it to be lighter.

Kevin the three holes are easy enough, but won't have a spark screen. i could do the deflector if i had one. buddy kinda wants it by the weekend.
