Adding a De-Comp to my 180C and 290 saws....
« on: December 15, 2017, 10:15:15 am »
MS180C I want to install a de-comp valve-there's the cast boss for it,however,I presume that the cylinder is plated and if so,said plating will of course chip away at that location.

MS290-no cast boss on this engine, unfortunately, but I would still like to install one.

  So,my question is:

Is there a good quality(meaning not Chinkneese) replacement cylinder w/ de-comp for either of these two saws?   I'm aware of the 180CBE Easy2Start,but being old-school,I prefer a real mechanical device over a 'clock spring' rig.....An attractive option would be to replace the 290 with, say, a new 261,but I like this old saw and  am skeptical of the M-tronic's actual need and it's long term reliability....

I'd like to hear from anyone that has installed a de-comp in a saw not originally equipped with one.

 Thanks!
