Put an AM Zama Walbro HD knockoff on my 290 that keeps coming back to haunt me (sold it too cheap).  Pleasantly suprised started @ 1 turn H/L started right up dialed right in no prob.  Bought it by mistake $14 didn't read listing close enough.  Happy!!!  Used 1 other AM carb several years ago Tillotson HS knockoff same thing good to go.  That one is on SIL's saw so I WOULD know if anything was wrong.  Believe me I would know.

I use the aftermarket carbs on a lot of the little stihls. haven't had one complaint in the last few years since.
some have had their diaphragm covers screwed on too tight and slightly bent the corners. no leaks but something to keep an eye on.

I have talked to landscaper that buys the aftermarket carbs for his stihl trimmers.  Having good luck with them he said.
