MS290 Carb .. Limter caps and right rpms
« on: May 12, 2014, 08:13:31 pm »
I just got done rebuilding my carb and setting rpms on my MS290. One of many saw projects..lol..I was wondering if I got the rpms right ..High 12300-12500 rpm from what my tach says.I do like to run saws alittle on the rich side.  Do I have to put back on them pesky limiter caps on the carb so it holds adjustment right?

Thanks
Jason

Rpm is OK and you can leave the caps off if that's what you want to do.

I do not what to put them back on if I do not have too. On the other hand I don't feel like adjusting everyday either or at all.So will it stay put where I have it  w/o backing in or out on the adjustments I made for it?

Yeah leave the caps off

It isn't uncommon to adjust the H & L during a day of cutting it just depends on the weather from a sunny day to a cloudy day in a matter of minutes here in the PNW  :o

I adjust my saws all the time also.   One day is cold one day it is warm.   I just always carry a small screw driver with me.

I just don't want them backing out or going in as I use it. I on the norm have a screw driver with at all times.I just don't adjust daily more like every two or three days I will check rpms with the tach before I use it. It is going be seen a lot of use this spring and summer as the weather permits.

I've not had a problem with them moving while running the saw.

Even though some people swear you have to put the red plastic stops back on. I havent ever seen any I pulled creep yet without.  I leave them off.

Heck what sold me on the idea was when I took a MS361 in on trade from a feller that ran it commercial without the red plastic stop. I ran the saw after having to adjust for my area and it never moved. So that sold me on you dont have to put the red stops back on.

Now adjustments for weather yes.  ;)

Never had a problem having the H & L screws backing out on that series of saws

There has been atleast one of that series of saw at my place since the late 80's
