MS290 Parts problem
« on: May 08, 2022, 08:03:36 pm »
Hello All!

This forum is very thorough but I have not found the answer to my problem after hunting around for a bit. I have a MS290 Serial#255775711 and it wasnt starting. After some disassembly I found the carb intake manifold to be torn. The local dealer told me the model number of the part is...1127 141 2200 so I ordered one online. When it came I put it up to the original and its too small. It wont fit. I figured I got the wrong part so I ordered another one from somewhere else and same thing. It is too small to fit. Can anyone tell me the real part number so I can order one? Please Please Please! I got the saw new in '02 and doubt anyone did any mods to it. It is rock stock as far as I know.

Thanks in advance all...I gotta get my firewood for next year....LoL!

Checked an old 290 ipl, a couple year old 290 ipl and an 029 ipl. They all list the 1127 141 2200  as the part.

Can you post a picture of the two intakes side by side.

The original is on the right. Two separate vendors sent the one on the left with the right part number on the package.

Did you buy saw new?  If not lot of guys used to use 044 440 intake boot and carbs. What carb you have on it.

Dont know if this is the case but just a W.A.G.

I think you are correct.   Someone has made a change to the saw using a larger intake.   That is quite a difference in size between the two intakes.
