Stihl 362

Look at the stihl 362 the other day. $709  :o   I didnt like what I saw.

So how do they compare to the MS361 that looked slimmer and lighter for $589?

Dang 362's are 679$ here.
Pro's- Much better air filtration. More torque, enough to actually pull a 25" bar. Better A/V set up
more fuel efficient. Share common parts with 311's and 391's so easier for us dealers to have the part you need.
Unlike 361 which didn't share parts with anything.

Con- A little heavier, and price.

The last 361's we sold retailed for 620$ equal 362's are 679$

I would imagine everything inside the new stihl dealer, that is a JD dealer was highest retail listed. Even the 2 ms460 were 979 989.

It was the closest and I wanted to check out a ms261. No go, but if I wanted to look at a 290 by george they had me covered. Only pro saws they had was 200T $579, 362, 460.

The 361 is quite a bit lighter, and the power rating is the same, outside the US.

Niko,
I picked up a 362 last week. I was very surprised when I put it on the scale. Now mind you, it does not have the filter and filter baffle, chainbrake band, three bolts (25mm), the starter rotor and rope, and a nut, but it did have nearly half a tank of bar oil. It weighed 13lb 3oz. My 361 weighs 12lb 12oz. I am thinking there will only be few ounces seperating these two. I will have the parts to make it whole in a couple of days. I will re-weigh it when it is finished.

OK, the 362 has everything but the filter. I dumped the oil but I didn't flush the tank. The weigh was 12 lbs, 13oz. I can't see it varying more than an ounce or two, so credit Stihl with be accurate with their weights for a change. I haven't run the saw to know how it feels in the woods. Right now it is too hot to run a saw unless it is absolutely necessary. I have all of my wood cut for the year. I have a little that needs to be noodled and moved. I may get around to that in the next couple of weeks.

Remember Murph, Niko's scales are accurate to 12 decimal places. So in his view a couple ounces is a huge difference, and the sideways balance on the 362 is rubbish also.
