Since you found crud in the carb screen, I would suggest you go back into the carb, pull the covers and diaphrams, remove the needle,
spring, lever and hold up to a light, and see how clear that passage is underneath, then blow it out, as well as the rest of the carb, and hold it up to a light again, and visually verify that the passage is now clear.  Replace the fuel filter, and closely inspect the fuel line for softness/gummy, and also cracks etc.  Look at where they grab onto the filter and carb, and decide if they would pass the Walrus test.

I guess I will soak the carb in carb cleaner too. It is already off. Much easier fix than seals & gaskets.

The float needle screen fell out and got lost. I have a new one but it won't seat correctly around the ridge. I also have a couple of Walbro carbs with screens but they won't come out and might fit better. Any suggestions?

Look through the passage, make sure it is clear.  Talk to any chainsaw mechanic, he will have a drawer full of carb kit leftovers and should have dozens of screens.
