the 261 had a better chain too. look at how wavy the 550 cuts were

I noticed that too. ;)

Thats why I try and use same chains on both testing.

@fisaw   and Art  @Old Iron Logging

Here is the adjustable carb version of the NE Type II stihl MS261 I was telling you about.   Be what I would want over Mtronic IMO

Had to wait on owner to get back from hunting camp.  7 pics.

Does the NE T2 261 have the same crankshaft as the older 261?  Heard the 261 is going through some crankshafts from a dealer.

There are 2 crankshafts for the MS 261. The older crankshaft is 1141 030 0400. There is also a other crankshaft for the MS 261 1141 030 0407 (newer version used on the updated MS 261).

I don`t know what exactly the difference is between these 2 crankshafts. I only know that there are 2 crankshafts, a older one and a newer one (which is used on the new version of the MS 261). The new crankshaft can also be used on the previous version of the chainsaw.

Thanks for the info.

Wondering if the new crank is will fix the problem I was told about and heard about before.  Time will tell with more of the type 2 NE getting out there.
