Depending on the model some Stihl coils can be a little tricky .Some were built with a slight advance built into them .Every so often the coil would go to the retard position and with no advance the saw really runs lousey . About the only method I ever found was to replace the coil with a known good unit to determine if that were the cause of poor performance .

Well I got the saw back the other day................... And................ Two pulls and if fired right up and ran like it hasn't ran in a long time!!!!!!! It was really good to feel the power of my bigger saw again...... They charged me a total of $78.00 for the labor and coil, everything else he checked I was not charged for! This has been a long time coming and now I just have to wait until I'm done archery hunting to destroy some of my tree tops laying in the woods! Everyone I talked to said that it was weird for the coil to go bad like that (as in timing) but I guess we all learned something new! Now I just wander if this was a long time in the works because the saw hasn't started that easy in a long time!!!!

It's good to hear you finally found a dealer that knew their stuff and how to trouble shoot your saw to fix it.

Good dealers with knowledge  of this, also get your repeat business when it come time for parts, saws, chains and bars.  It's win win to know how to fix a saw for a customer.
