Avoid using a piston stop and an impact at the same time. Bad things can happen when you have the any kind of piston stop in and start using an impact. We broke a piston using a rope in the spark plug hole then hitting it with the impact. Thankfully we were taking it apart to rebuild so no real harm

Another vote for a length of rope down through the plug hole and a breaker bar.

Piece o' cake!

1/2-inch impact on lowest torque setting with a 19mm deep impact socket on and a few blips of the trigger, and it came right off.  Kept the spark plug in, by the way.

Thanks guys for the great advice.

Seems to be leaking bar oil from behind the chain tensioner.  I cleaned it up really well with compressed air and brake cleaner and that is where the oil seems to be dripping from.   What would cause that?  I thought it would be the oil pickup hose, but that seems fine.

Did you say it is leaking oil from behind the chain tensioner, if so is there a crack in the case behind the tensioner.   Pull the tensioner out and look at it with a magnifier.

I would think that it is just dripple coming from the tank vent or left over oil from the gallery getting trapped behind the inner guide plate and slowly running down to the lower AV mount and then to the floor. Just a guess.

Most chainsaws dribble a little oil while setting on the shelf for a while

It's not a dribble.  More like a mess.  It's leaking from two places:

The vent and the oil pump itself.  Looks like the plastic cap on the end of the oil pump bore where the oil is coming out of the pump.

Thanks for the tip on looking for a crack behind the tensioner.  This saw was used daily by an old tree cutter friend of mine and by the looks of it, it's been just a tad beat, so a crack would not surprise me.

I'm just going to order a new pump unless I can find o-rings for existing pump.
