Can a 261 run an eight tooth 3/8 rim?

I always considered them to be a little low on low speed torque?

I have a 026 with a 3/8 X 7pin and a 16" bar. That's about all it can handle.

I haven't found a 8 rim sprocket yet; I thought I had a Oregon sprocket but it was **** and old

I don't race saws I use then for firewood

I ran my 261 stock for about two weeks then did some simple mod's to it and it is alive and kicking I run 3/8's 7 on mine

There isn't any chance I would buy a 60 cc saw because how the 261 runs (for firewood)

The more you run the 261 the better it gets :)

Racing 3cubes  my hands were to heavy for 8T even though 1 cut testing showed faster. Med sized saws 9 was faster in 1 cut but would run a 8 because of my heavy hands too. Other bigger saws I was faster with 10-11 in 1 cut, but would run a 9.   Talking 3 cuts where adrenalin takes over and not being so good at controlling it and pull the saw down.  I seen guys run saws with gears I could never think about trying. Oh chains set up for such too.

I agree on rim size. I never would race the 261 with the 8. Playing I can do great with the 8, get the nerves up at a race and I want a 7.

357 runs 8. 980 Efco a 9.

Is that the Stihl small spline hub?

I have several 3/8 X 8 pin rims on saws that are the large 7 spline and they don't look like that?
