odd/ even number stihls

my boy told me he heard the last number of the model (029 example) if its odd its a consumer? type saw and if it was even it was a pro model. any truth to this?

Not true IMO. The new 261 441 461 661 are pro saws.

390 290 310 250 consumer

Maybe back when they were 0 number first.  Like 021 025 029 039 Hmmmmmm 031  what was it considered? Pretty dang good built saw. 034 036 044 046 066 084  I think I see the pattern he was seeing way back then. Not now though.
Heck that has been long ago. What 10 years or more. My mind isnt thinking right now.  ;D

I say no too. 031,041,045,051,075, and ms 650 were all pro saws.

Each new model is number designation is chosen by the President of the company.
The model numbers have no connection, or meaning to anything.
They switched in 2001-2003 to MS... because all of the other products
had letters in front of a model number so they switched for continuities sake.

told the boy. he came out to grind stumps for me and we were playin with the saws having a grand old time. probably looked like idiots to the neighbors. that stump grinder was fun, glad I never bought one ;D
