Stihl 090 066 044
« on: December 13, 2016, 11:55:43 am »
Here's a pic of my favorite Stihls on my bench.  Just took this picture a few minutes ago.

The guy who bought my 066 and 044 brought them in this morning to get the 066's starter rope replaced and he wants a 20" b/c on the 044. I let him keep the 25" bar that was on it as a bonus.

He's a carver and gave them a good work out already, I even admitted to him the 066 at 24 yrs old never had its cylinder removed and still has its original carb diaphragms. Still idles perfect and runs like a champion. I think its heated carb might have something to do with the diaphragms longevity, constant thermostatically controlled at 77 F.
My 090 also is the same age and still has the original diaphragms and runs perfect.  8) I always ran it dry of fuel before put in storage.
Getting the 090 ready to mill some 10"x10" for February's competition.

Thanks for moving this. I didn't intend on derailing the Craig list thread but I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread.
I'll have some pics to add when the 090 goes milling some oversize white spruce. Just won't be doing any milling for a while.  -37C below with a -45 windchill right now.

Celcius and farinheigt are equal at -40. But the numbers reverse after -40....-45 C = -49 F.

Its in both places if you look at the CL thread again.  Just felt they deserved to be in the stihl thread too.

Thanks Kevin

I like to share with all you guys how I built and what I did with  my chainsaw work shop.
I built it about 4 years ago happy settled and organized in the last town I lived in.
2 years ago we move 240 miles to a new town. I built the shop small enough (8'×12')and 8' walls with an attic for extra storage . I was able to take it with me on a trailer.

Finally after 2 years settling in and running my tree service I'm able to unpack and get tools etc organized again.
I have another shop 30'×20' attached to the house which I  have set up for my vehicles and equipment.

But in the winter off season I'm more happy to be in my little cozy chainsaw  shop.
Still have lots of unpacking stuff to do filling the shelves. Attic is full of saws. Still separating and organizing tools etc between the 2 shops.
And yes I'm itching to tear into the Yamaha bikesaw and totally redesign it and also make a few race chains or 3 ;D :D

That is a sweet little shop.
Thanks. When I built it I had a pretty good tree season that year so I cut no corners  :D

I built it all myself except for the electrical work which was not cheap, but I got what I wanted.  125 amp 30-60 circuit combination panel . 240volt x 60 amp welder plug and a 15 amp 240 plug for a knife grinder/milling machine. Fed by a 100 foot of 100amp direct burial cable. Fluorescent lights. Baseboard heat, exhaust fan.
Yep that electrician was smiling.

Insulated floor, ceiling, door, walls. Triple pane reflective slider window. If I move again it's coming with me again ;D

Here's my other shop I'm  working on . Just finished putting up 60 feet of main shelving 8 feet off the floor on a 11 foot ceiling. Got another tool chest and cabinet for working on the equipment and vehicles with a small work bench. Storage for work clothes, boots. Climbing gear and work saws.  Back 7x9 ft door I put in is where I store my dump trailer, chipper and stump grinder unit with a Muck Truck  power barrow sitting on the hitch tongue. Housed in a 12'×24' shelter shed.

I was on a roll since yesterday. I'm finding now that I have a choice of 2 shops I'm "un-crowding my smaller chainsaw shop.
Putting the floor drill press, floor grinder , sand blaster cabinet, ox/acetylene tanks  and arc welder in the big shop.
Bench mount drill press, grinder and 180 mig welder  in the saw shop.
I ran a 240V cable from the saw shop to the big shop for a welder/heater plug.

Now I got some elbow room  :D

Downloaded it off the FF gallery might be a little small at 34KB.
Do have it original plus other pics while on that job on my external hard drive, but need my wife or daughter with their tech savvy to extract it, Lol.
