electric start on 026

Howdy, been thinking about a way to put electric start on my stihl pro 026.
(both rotor cuffs need work.......
I got a sears 4 stoke weed whacker from SHMBO a couple years ago with the starter that fits the head and plugs in, it also has the pull rope start once you get it running.
Anybody thought about adding a starter to a stihl????
@ 64 the arms don't do it. Thanks, JoeB

At 64 I couldn't start a 026 Pro either for my fingers would not close on the starter handle.

I started taking Glucosamine and a couple years later, I could start my 026 just fine. My fingers are not perfect but at least I can start my saws.

The big problem as I see it is the interconnection between the saw and the starter?

Model helicopters have a 6mm hex drive interconnection.

Scroll to the bottom of this page . . . for the 6mm hex ball end wrench adapter. It will take at least the Dynatron starter for enough torque to start a 026PRO

May look at the Easy Start on some other stihls.
Not on pro grade saws like 026 though.  I was just telling someone it would be a nice option up to 60cc saws in pro grade. Even though not  a big market.

Stihls easy start has been the easiest and best I have tried so far.

If you try to start the way we are used to it will drive you batty.

 I could pull the rope 1" at a time till I got it wound up and then it would spin itself to start.  or just pull slowly up and it will wound up in 1 pull and spin start once wound.

Have to learn to use it on the stihl. It is so easy on you, if you had shoulder, hand etc troubles. Little pulls at a time works to wound up the stihls. Unlike some of the others that just make it easier to pull at a given point.

Cut4fun had a MS250C at his house last year and it was just like he said.

Rope was almost no resistance to pull.

I could jerk the rope all the way out and then the MS250C would turn over and start.

I don't like the so called Easy Start but it works well for a lot of people. Does take some getting used to.

Cut a hole in the side cover and remove the original starter assemble. Machine an extended nut and use a elec drill or kart Type starter?

I don't care for it either.

But my 66 yr old wife could start a easy start or adjust the chain with no problem.

I have a regular 025 and 026 as well as a 026 PRO and they are good enough for me.

Not all brands of easy start saws work like we are talking about. Not all Stihls nor other brands.

I have a Dolmar 5105 with a starter made a lot like the one on the Stihl MS250 Easy Start but it doesn't work the same way. It is hard to pull but if you can slowly get the piston to go past top dead center, the saw will start.

Don't know much about Stihl but is the flywheel nut really left hand thread? That seems to defy logic.
