Stihl S10 Disassembly Help
« on: September 11, 2016, 08:27:59 pm »
So I started taking apart an S10 rear handle today to try and get it cleaned and painted. I ran into a problem though because I have no idea how to take the clutch off and no idea how to take the flywheel side off(under the flywheel theres something I haven't seen before but flywheel was taken off) I've attached pictures.
Is it something I have to pull off?

Clutches usually have left hand threads on the mount

There's points and condenser under the flywheel

The flywheel sets on a taper of the crankshaft. It is also keyed.

Some people use a "puller" to get them off.

Some people put the nut back on the crankshaft with the top of the nut flush with the top of the threads on the crankshaft. Then they "tap" the nut with a BRASS HAMMER and the flywheel comes loose off the tapered crankshaft. The caution here is not to mess up the threads on the crankshaft!
