Chainsaw Repair

I hope I'm not butting in but in 1979, I think, my friend bought a 031 new, a little later it needed points and he ask me to put them in, expensive too, best I remember. I couldn't adjust through the flywheel so I keep looking and found a timing mark at about 2:00 on the case and a mark on the flywheel, I hooked a single wire from the points out to hook to my ohm meter, no other wires, then I turned the flywheel until the points either broke open or closed, can't remember, when the marks aligned, had to take off the wheel to move points so I never tightened it until I was done. Saw run like a 60cc saw and still does. Never had another set of points since. I think the factory had those points set wrong. In 62 yrs I lucked up one time, cause I just ain't that smart.
