I looked it up on a service manual that I have on micro fitche .According to that this praticular model uses an internal to the flywheel solid state capacitive discharge ignition systm which is mounted on an aluminum rotor plate .

There should be a mark on this stater plate which aligns with a mark on the pocket it sits in to set it for 27 or so degrees advance .That would be when the piston is approx. 16 thou before top dead center or for the metrically inclined 2.5 to 2.7 mm.I would speculate that if the timing is out too far you would not get any spark.
