Stihl 011 AV help needed with Fuel Tank Vent
« on: April 11, 2013, 07:23:24 pm »
Here in Oregon...have had the saw since early 80's.
Finally needing some service. Took carb out but managed to break a rotted
tube that could be the "pulse" side of the carb.
Any chance of getting the service manual so I know how to get this thing
apart?

JB

Thanks so much. Really appreciate it.
Anyone have an idea on how to change out the fuel vent line?
It is the line with the small set screw inside, closest to the tank.
Mine is broken right where it disappears behind the carb (not the tank end).

TIA,
JB

All I did on my 009 was just stick a piece of fuel line on it and the other end down the hole. it is probably not as good fit as the factory but it works. the hole down to the case is in the upper corner.

Yup, finally figured out where the end was hiding. On the clutch side of the saw, there was a small cover held in by one screw. When I opened that up I found the end of the tubing with a piece of foam (filter) ty-wrapped to end of the tube. So, I just shortened the tube, re-located the foam filter so it was under the air filter. Seems to be working just fine. Have since ordered a replacement assembly from my local Stihl dealer ($8) so I will be able to get the saw back into original condition. When I get that, will post some pics. What was frustrating, was that the Repair Manual does not show the vent other than the schematic parts diagram.

Thanks to all for the help,
JB
