Stihl 015 problem
« on: October 29, 2013, 10:11:14 pm »
Been working on an 015av that is got me stumped. Saw runs good until I put it into the wood, after two or three cuts  it dies and ultimately stops. I've cleaned and reset points, rebuilt carb, new fuel line and filter and did a pressure/comps test. Comp is 130. Not great but I believe good enough .nwonder if its the coil, though I did put another one on with the same results. Anyone have any ideas?

Bob

Listen carefully to the chain saw to determine if the mixture is going lean as it warms up in the cut? Sometimes as saws warm up, the seals open up and you have an air leak and the saw goes so lean it quits.

sounds to me like your carb adjustment my be off a tad. i believe on that carb the high and low speed screws are dependent on each other to provide enough fuel. where as if you move the low speed screw you effect the high speed and vice versa.

Does anyone think its an ignition problem? I've contemplated installing a NOva 11 MOdule, which I have but am unsure how the wiring goes.  I've had the recoill cover off so many times that I'm about at wits end.
